UC01 is designed to be different from existing products and deliver a number of significant benefits.

1. Improving usability and safety in a compact unit

 

Making a universal charger is challenging due to the wide-ranging plug standards that exist around the world. The British plug size standard (BS 1363) and European plug size standard (EN50075) are often overlooked by designers which means that products are often unable to work in large parts of the world.

 

Larger products can be awkward to use with standard sockets while smaller products can lead to safety issues with electrical parts being exposed. Measuring under 50 x 50 x 50mm, UC01 is the only product that combines such widespread compatibility with safety and usability.


 

2. Unique mechanisms

 

UC01 has unique mechanisms (patent pending) that are designed to make deploying and storing of each plug unit easier and safer. These are:

 

• dual extruding mechanism

• rotational extruding mechanism

• auto-locking mechanism


 

3. Modular system enables easy upgrading

 

Approximately every 3 years, the charging technology and protocol of USBs have been upgraded which means that charging products frequently become obsolete, leading to increased e-waste and unnecessary costs for consumers.

 

The UC01 is designed with sustainability in mind. It has a modular element to enable easier upgrades for when technology changes. The end result is lower costs for customers and less waste for the planet.

Universal Charger UC01 is equipped with Power Delivery 3.0 technology.

This offers a maximum output of up to 30W, making for fast charging of devices at all times.

 

If you charge more than one device at a time, the total 30W output automatically switches with the USB-C port charging up to 18W and USB-A charging up to 12W. Once the device connected to the USB-A is fully charged, the USB-C port will then revert to 30W PD output.

Our baseline metric of robustness is that the mechanism should still be working after 10,000 rotations (equivalent to more than 5 rotations each day for 5 years).

 

Our team has been using and testing a final working prototype since last winter and it is still functioning smoothly with zero issues. We plan to start a machine-led rotating test once the final product is in production and will share progress on our newsletter.

The Universal Charger UC01 can be used to charge the following:

 

• Apple M1 MacBook Air

• Apple iPhone (13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max)

• Apple iPad (mini, Air and Pro)

• Samsung Galaxy (S21, S21+, Note 20 and Note 10)

• Google Pixel

• Nintendo Switch and more.

A small number of the latest hairdryers and straighteners are powered by a USB-C charger and you can use the UC01 with them. However, UC01 does not support other hairdryers and straighteners that plug into electrical sockets.

​

This will depend on where you live and/or want UC01 delivered.

 

If you live in the US, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and South Korea, you can order UC01 directly from us. And, we currently accept payments only from direct credit and debit cards.

​

We are also preparing to sell our product on Amazon in the US, Canada, Mexico and the UK from mid of 2023.

​

We plan to ship anywhere in the world in the near future but, due to tax and import duty complexities, we currently only deliver to the US, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and South Korea. 

 

Shipping costs depend on a number of factors including the quantity and weight of your package, your location and speed of delivery. To get a shipping quotation, please add your selected items to your shopping cart, and enter your shipping address in the checkout page.

 

We offer an economical but reliable shipping solution with a target cost of ~$10.
